Organizations Working to Stop the Clock Change

The push to end the biannual clock change isn't unique to Washington. These organizations share a common interest: stopping the twice-a-year clock change, in other states and nationally.

Washington & state-level

Save Standard Time

A 501(c)(4) nonprofit founded by Jay Pea that has supported and testified in favor of permanent-standard-time bills in Washington and other states, including WA SB 5511 (2022), SB 5795 (2024), SB 5001 (2025), and HB 2119 (2026). None of these has yet received a floor vote.

National

Coalition for Permanent Standard Time

A coalition of medical and scientific organizations, including the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, National Sleep Foundation, Sleep Research Society, and Society for Research on Biological Rhythms, pushing for permanent standard time nationally on health grounds. Co-chaired by a sleep-medicine physician and by Jay Pea of Save Standard Time.

American Academy of Sleep Medicine

The leading professional society for sleep medicine physicians, and a founding member of the Coalition for Permanent Standard Time. Its published position, that permanent standard time aligns best with human circadian biology, is one of the sources behind the campaign's case for ending the clock change now rather than waiting on Congress (see Sources). The AASM has not endorsed the Last Fall Back Act.

Lock the Clock Alliance

A coalition pushing Congress to end the twice-a-year clock change nationally. It does not take a side on whether the country settles on permanent standard time or permanent daylight time — its position is simply that the clock change should stop.
